  11.    1. Description

  13.       A. Moderators exert prime control over the echo(es) they 
  14. moderate within IGA_Net<tm>.
  15.  
  16.       B. Moderators are directly under, and are responsible to, the 
  17. IGA_Net<tm> Administrator/Zone-Coordinator.
  18.  
  19.       C. Moderators are appointed and discharged by the IGA_Net<tm> 
  20. Administrator/Zone-Coordinator.
  21.  
  22. Exception:  In the case of local echoes which are carried by 
  23. IGA_Net<tm> as IGA_Net<tm> echoes, the moderator(s) are appointed 
  24. locally and not appointed-by the IGA_Net<tm> Administrator/Zone-
  25. Coordinator; however, the echo itself (ergo, the moderator) is carried 
  26. at the discretion of the IGA_Net<tm> Administrator/Zone-Coordinator. In 
  27. the instance that a moderator of a local echo which is carried by 
  28. IGA_Net<tm> objects to being bound by the duties detailed herein, that 
  29. echo will only be carried by IGA_Net<tm> as a Non-Net-Specific (NNS) 
  30. echo.

  32.       D. All moderators of IGA_Net<tm> echoes are bound by the duties, 
  33. responsibilities, and authority detailed herein.

  35.    2. Duties, Responsibilities, and Authority
  36.       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  37.       The following duties, responsibilities, and authority are 
  38. delegated to all Moderators within IGA_Net<tm>.
  39.  
  40.       A. A Moderator is responsible for everything that does happen, 
  41. or doesn't happen, in his or her conference. He or she will 
  42. conscientiously and fairly enforce IGA_Net<tm> rules and the "Rules of 
  43. the Echo" for his or her conference.
  44.  
  45.       B. Moderators are responsible for seeing that their "Rules of 
  46. the Echo" are current and correct. This includes the *.RUL file which 
  47. is distributed for their conference within the IGA-INFO.Z## packet. 
  48. [The IGA-INFO.Z## packet is maintained by the IGA_Net<tm> 
  49. Administrator/Zone-Coordinator.]
  50.  
  51. All proposed changes to "Rules of  the Echo" will be submitted in 
  52. draft to both the IGA_Net<tm> Administrator/Zone-Coordinator and the 
  53. ELIST Coordinator for approval prior to publishing/distributing.
  54.  
  55.       C. Moderators will publish, at least once monthly, a message 
  56. within their conference which contains the Rules of the Echo."
  57.  
  58.       D. Harmony is the backbone of all effective organizations--and 
  59. especially this of ours. All effort will be made to ensure that 
  60. messages and actions from the moderator in the open echo will be 
  61. rendered in a most harmoneous manner.
  62.  
  63.       E. Maximunm effort will be made to ensure that all messages 
  64. relating to corrective action which appear in an echo are cordial 
  65. in nature. The creedo must be: "Walk softly because you carry a big 
  66. stick."  If a non-cordial communications must be sent, it will be 
  67. sent (and replied to) via netmail.
  68.  
  69.       F. If someone posts a message which presents a problem of 
  70. insignificance or is slightly out-of-order in the echo, the 
  71. Moderator may congenially/cordially request correction via message 
  72. in the open echo to the offender.
  73.  
  74. In the event that the infraction is one of a more serious nature, 
  75. the Moderator will send a routed-netmail to the errant user *and* 
  76. send a copy of the message to the SYSOP of the board upon which the
  77. problem message was entered.
  78.  
  79. Should a moderator determine that a user's access to his/her echo 
  80. must be severed, the moderator will perform the following:
  81.  
  82.           1) Use netmail to notify and convey the following to the 
  83. servicing BBS:
  84.  
  85.              a. The identity of the user to be severed, and
  86.              b. A statement of the reason(s) for the request for 
  87. severance, and
  88.              c. Extracts of message(s) from the user which prompted 
  89. the request for severance (if not already furnished), and
  90.              d. Any additional information available which supports 
  91. the request for severance.
  92.  
  93.            2) Duplicates of the above F.1.a. through F.1.d. will be 
  94. forwarded to the Administrator of IGA_Net<tm> at 440:1/1 concurrent 
  95. with sending same to the servicing BBS.
  96.  
  97.       G. Moderators will comply with the requests of the IGA_Net<tm> 
  98. Quality Control Coordinators and the ELIST Coordinator. Should a dispute 
  99. arise, the dispute will be taken to the Administrator of IGA_Net<tm> for 
  100. resolution.
  101.  
  102.       H. A Moderator should monitor his/her echo at least once during 
  103. each 24 hour period. If a moderator is not going to be able to do 
  104. this, he or she will arrange for a co-moderator to do it in their 
  105. place. The name of the co-moderator will be contained within the 
  106. "Rules of the Echo" file.

  108.       I. This document may be changed and updated as requirements
  109. are identified and/or exist.
